Jordan Mitrik grew up in Pittsburgh where he attended North Catholic High School. It wasn’t until his senior year of high school that he realized his desire to pursue a career in the public relations field. Looking back, he would have never guessed to occupy the impressive titles and accomplishments he does now.
Mitrik enjoys creating and implementing campaigns for organizations and making a positive impact on the community. This is why he is a perfect fit for Waynesburg’s nationally affiliated Red Brick Communications Firm as director. Aside from this title, Mitrik has his hands full as the Chapter Vice President for the Waynesburg University Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter. He also enjoys seeing his work being published and put to use through Waynesburg Office of University Relations where he is currently interning.
He received the 2015 Bob O’ Gara Scholarship Award through PRSA Pittsburgh which many public relations students could only dream to achieve.
“I knew entering Waynesburg that the Department of Communication was very hands-on and I would be able to get involved with the clubs and organizations right away, but I did not imagine I would very soon help oversee the Chapter and lead the firm,” said Mitrik
Mitrik appreciates all of the opportunities and experience he has had in interning this past summer with the Pittsburgh CLO and PRSA Pittsburgh, where he served as a member of the Awards Committee for their annual Renaissance Awards for the past three years.
Mitrik has had many experiences that could benefit underclassmen, and he is willing to give any and all advice that he can. He is a firm believer in working hard and taking grasp of any opportunity that presents itself, and he encourages freshman public relations students to follow his lead.
“Do your best in anything and everything, whether that is schoolwork, the Chapter, firm opportunities or your internship. Although things might become overwhelming at times, knowing you have accomplished something and gave it your all is truly rewarding!” said Mitrik.
When Mitrik is not in “PR mode,” he enjoys visiting and spending time with his family and friends. If you can’t find him there, you may find him in the gym leading the men’s club volleyball team. And if you are still unable to find him, he’s probably binge-watching Netflix in his room.
Mitrik is constantly reminded of the things he can potentially achieve with the quote “Believe,” which his mother would always say to him.
“I hope to be an established and well-respected public relations professional in the Pittsburgh area,” said Mitrik. “I also hope to one day give back to the future generations of public relations professionals by teaching them in a higher education capacity”
Mitrik is not only noteworthy for his influence and outstanding abilities in public relations, but for his laughter and great sense of style. He has impacted many on this campus and will be missed. Of course he is wished the… Best!
