Zachary Sniadach started his college career as a business management major. Now a senior, Sniadach decided to switch his major to public relations because of his interest in communication and people. He is currently serving as the Treasurer for Waynesburg University’s Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter, as well as an Assistant Firm Director and Account Executive for Red Brick Communications.
Aware of the importance of being involved, Sniadach saw the opportunities that being treasurer provided him. He saw the position as a way to help him polish his organization and leadership skills, as well as prepare for post-graduation life.
“I wanted to have a leadership role in PRSSA because I felt it would make me more amicable as a professional applying for jobs,” said Sniadach. “It is important to gain this experience because employers love to see that.”
Being an active member of the Chapter, Sniadach has participated in numerous events and activities. He attended and assisted with Waynesburg University PRSSA’s first Regional Conference last April, and more recently he attended National Conference in Indianapolis, Ind. His experience at National Conference allowed him to meet professionals in the field, and inspired his passion for public relations.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to network and connect with young professionals who are also a part of PRSSA,” said Sniadach. “These kind of events really give you a unique opportunity to meet some diverse people.”
Along with all of his PRSSA responsibilities, Sniadach is also a student athlete. Participating in both, Sniadach has had to manage his time adequately. He claims that learning to do that was often stressful, especially now with it being his senior year, but it has definitely helped him improve his time management skills.
This past summer, Sniadach was an intern at Dell Fastener Corporation, where he matured his sales skills, and created a marketing campaign aimed at increasing customer awareness. Sniadach enjoyed the internship, and believes he definitely made the right decision putting the time in at Dell.
Post-graduation, Sniadach would like to attend grad school and receive his MBA; however, he is open to exploring the field if a job is offered to him.
Caroline Brown is a senior English literature major, who is also pursuing a minor in public relations. Caroline serves as the publicity chair for Waynesburg University PRSSA. She hopes to pursue a career in publishing post graduation. Caroline is passionate about the Pittsburgh Penguins, reading and spending time with the important people in her life.
